Trying to relax on a rainy afternoon!
Sruthi is 10 months old and started crawling around the house two weeks ago. She has developed speed to her crawling in the last 3 to 4 days. I have been thinking of getting the gate up next to the stairs to prevent any accidents. But the baby gate we have is buried deep under all the junk in the basement. Seems like we will never get to it before she learns to climb the stairs all by herself. Today is one of those lazy -spend time on the couch kind of windy and rainy day. I dont want to be up and about everytime Sruthi crawls close to the stairs. My brilliant mind started thinking out of the box and it stuck an idea. I moved the love seat to block the stairs also leaving some room to go into the foyer. Now I can let her loose and sit back with my laptop.
She must have guessed that mom is trying to kick back and relax. She found out that she cannot do any experiments near the steps either. What can she do now? Well, kids are kids! They get you every time. She decided to try to stand up on her own. She sat down with knees bendt and tried to pull herself up holding on to the couch. The phone rang, I went to pick it up thinking she still has the carpet under her to protect her – just in case. When I walked back to the couch with the phone…………she looked up, saw the phone and squealed(meaning to get the phone into her hands), left her grip on the cocuh and……..fell back with a big thud – her head hitting the carpet. There goes my relaxed afternoon……….. more cuddling and cajoling before she will venture out on her own again!
